Apart from Tag Heuer making money out of karting, and those who are easily impressed by the "Oh it's used by F1" brigade, what are the benefits to both drivers and clubs that this system will deliver? I actually imagine that they're none. Features, may be. So it can do 'Live Timing' (a feature) - does this stand the "So What" test - No. Not only will the cost to drivers be significant, but also the cost to clubs will be much more. They will have to spend 1000s on new decoders ; software ; Hire transponders ; training. Where is the benefit? I can't see one. (Must go to Specsavers). Perhaps it is time to find the true spirit of karting rather than the "I am more important than you, so I am right" attitude that exudes from certain quarters. For those who are impressed by cosmetics, rather than functionality, then go chase the rainbow. If the PF/S1/FKS of the world think that they are the pinnacle of karting then they are obviously navel gazing and have a clear view of their rectums. They feed upon those who are Chasing the Golden Dream, which the vast majority will never attain. But a lot of people will get rich from their trying. This is purely my personal opinion, just to protect the innocent from any come backs. If the Tag Heuer route is where they want the karting world to "progress" then they should provide free of charge all of the necessary equipment and training to all clubs. Chances of that? - Zero.
End of rant from someone who is certainly getting out of the "sport" (Note the quotes)
