Hi All,
Just a dilemma I had and wasn't sure whether to bring the subject up on here.
A while ago I had a problem with my engine when it kept losing power, due to an engine change we traced it to the carburettor which was common among both. The services/company that are the importer for this engine and whom I buy parts for it off told me to send them the carb and they would test it.
3 weeks later I got it back with a bill for £160 including new floats (not fitted I might add, just in the box). I was told that nothing could be found wrong with it and just that on the dyno it needed a few tweaks. Ok then.
3 weeks after that I do to my next race and the problem is still there, no different. So in frustration my dad and I stripped the carb (a dellorto float bowl type). It was clear nothing had been taken off since we last stripped it and then we found a small inline filter that we didnt know was there and it was blocked SOLID. We cleaned it out and the kart ran like new again.
I was furious so the following week I contacted them and complained. They denied everything and said it was fine when they checked it (the usual racing get out clause). But its clear they did NOTHING to this carb and charged me £160 for it, of which £20 was for the floats. I'm an Engineer and my dad a mechanic, so we aren't stupid and it was clear this thing hadn't even been opened.
I'm sorry but to me thats disgusting, so is it worth naming them or just never using them again (which I won't be)
