Pauldalgarno, having read your origional post, it seems you are more concerned about having to purchase a Starter Pack than anything else. Is the price of £49.00 so offputting that you would consider not racing (at MSA meetings) rather than just paying up and getting on with it? It's less than the price of one tyre.
You also seem to be saying that you are somehow exempt from taking an ARKS test just because you raced 6 years ago. Now, you may be fully up to speed with current rules and regs in karting through involvement other than driving, but how do you suggest the MSA check that this is the case without some sort of test?
The medical issue is irrelavent, as you would have to do this at your age anyway.
And finally, you say that having to return to being a novice would stop you bothering at all as you would not be able to race at the front. As most kart tracks use a heats system, this allows good drivers, novice or not, to work towards a representative starting postion for the final which, after all, is the one race that prizes are awarded for. Imagine everyones surprise as you line up on the first few rows of the grid with your novice plates on!
Maybe your attitude to MSA rules (good or bad) belies how you would treat your racing........
