Thanks for the help Zatharos - We've no data key but intend to get one to keep the firmware updated.
In this case the one with the error is running a later version than the other so possibly less likely to be that.
We tried two sensors, both gave same result so it has to be in the head unit - I will check for dry joints - I just didn't want to start messing in case it was a known setting / firmware issue with a fix push-button fix.
