First link is an interview with Paul Fletcher and Terry Fullerton talking about KF2 and some misconceptions about costs, and how falling numbers in karting might be addressed.

Second link is a discussion between Jake Sanson and myself about the incident in KF3 at GYG S1 Rd 4, when "squeezing" becomes something more and ends up in contact.
In order to fill an 8 part programme with 7 races only, we have to come up with discussion topics to fill part 1 (There are 6 part and 8 part programmes only on Motors TV except in a case of force majeure). Incidents and controversial issues provide a topic of interest and something to talk about. Other than that we have to come up with features.
I would be interested to hear ideas for features in part 1. We've covered datalogging, sport psychology and how it can relate to karting, kart set up and a starting karting piece. We'll be speaking to Graham Smith about his new book at the final MSA Shenington round.
Also, I would be interested to know whether drivers prefer to see a "race programme" predominantly, such as we produce now for Rotax Super 1, with a few interviews but mostly race highlights, or more of a magazine style programme with mainly features, and only very brief highlights of TV finals only, maybe 2 mins long with a voiceover style rather than commentary (the sort of thing you would see in a round up of football matches)?
I have always said that we are not just producing a TV programme, but memories drivers and their family members can look back on in years to come. On that basis, if you have a good result I suspect you would want to see the fullest race highlights possible, but I'd be interested to get some feedback.
At the moment we do a FULL grid rundown of every driver in each class, fastest lap graphic, slow-motion replays of incidents, top 10 result inc. lower thirds for each driver on the podium and a graphic covering the top 6 championship points positions. At the beginning of the season we include a "ones to watch" 3d graphic, used again at Rd 6 to cover the updated championship positions after the rounds we are not engaged to film. Is all this important? We used to include driver pictures in the grid positions, but some felt it was too long and unnecessary, not to mention the fact that it was almost impossible to get everyone to turn up for their photo, resulting in missing images.
I have been investigating live webcasts, but the cost of putting wireless sender units on each camera to a live switcher unit and edit suite, plus the general cost of the additional personnel and hardware is horrendous. Doing it inside is one thing.... when you need sender units to cover the external distances involved it becomes prohibitive. Producing a separate DVD and TV edit also has an additional cost implication.
