Traxtar - you are absolutely correct in so far as the rules are concerned but that does not automatically imply that using a heat gun is cheating.
If you used a heat gun to clean the tyres immediately after a race (didn't want to say after a heat!) then they would probably cool back down before the next race and you would not gain any advantage especially in the cooler months. On very hot days there could be quite a difference between tyres on a kart kept in the awning between races and those on a kart left out in the sun.
There was an interesting article on a USA site where they did several tests to establish what advantage hot tyres gave over cold tyres. It did give an advantage over the early laps but that was achieved only by using tyre warmers (similar to those seen in F1) and taking them off just before the kart left the grid.
To gain a real advantage with a heat gun you would probably need to have four of them so that all the tyres were being heated at the same time and then run to the grid as late as possible before your race.
I did hear of a race at PF whetre the cadets were held back whilst the next class went out in their place because a number of karts had very hot tyres but it was suggested that the teams involved had taken the tyres off the rims and heated the rims with a space heater and then refitted the tyres. If that story is true then that would be a deliberate attempt to cheat even if a heat gun had not been used on the tyres.
