To be fast at rye yo drive off the track at almost every corner.
when i raced there it used to be grass off hairpin 1. now its block paved. I see it a lot where the driver who is being overtaken just hangs around the outside where he who would normally have to back out on the exit and just runs round the other side of the tires and keeps the place. Bit of a joke.
The exit to hairpin 2 you run off the track to maintain speed, years ago it was rough out there so you didn't really go off, now its nice paving and makes it easy.
Pilion the kerb is way too wide. if it was a proper kerb you would take the corner properly and it would open up more overtaking opportunities.
Esses - fastest way is too clump the kerb with 2 wheels over the white line.
Onto the main straight you can run off the track too maintain speed. it used to be grass!.
Stadium you can now overtake by driving off the track on the inside to gain advantage.
You give drivers them sort of advantages and they will use them.
Put kerbs in like Whilton mill and i guarantee you won't see kerb riding unless its wet! It will great fairer racing and better racing.
But you have to remember rye house is geared up for corporate drivers. thus block paving is easier too keep looking good than muddy grass (the track has a high water table)
Either change the track or let the drivers get on with it.
Im more concerned about the contact driving used to get past instead of overtaking cleanly. One driver got driver of the day and he used contact to gain an advantage multiple times, and another won the final after pushing drivers wide. Plus there was many more incidents similar for other positions.
Probably too busy looking at the kerbs. I love the fact they had a marshall on the inside of pillion sitting ontop of the tires looking at who went over the kerb too see contact right in front of them.
Also post race scrutineering needs to be sorted. How is it I'm aloud anywhere near karts that are being scrutineered.Anyone can walk past, or hand parts to the driver etc! Lucky we can get so close though as a mini max driver with a similar name to a county in very south east corner of the UK got caught red handed by two of us trying to do a switch of exhaust header ;-). Surely he shouldn't be aloud to remove anything unless the scrute is watching it be removed!!!!! But there you go. Caught and dsq. so there is one bonus to not having a private area for scrutineering.
Shame the MSA have always let HKC down.
