" this is why im gona go into business i think ".
You need to inject a little more realism into your plans then.
The problem facing all the kart traders is whether they do it as a full time business, or just something 'on the side'
But let's look at your tires.
To get a good price at the factory, you will have to order in bulk. Say for £35 a set at the gates you will need to contract for 1000 sets, in two deliveries of 500 sets but pay for all 1000 up front.
That's £35k, which is a lot of money to fund from your savings. Of course, if you have borrowed it from a bank, there's the loan fees and interest on top.
So, you will need to factor in delivery and import taxes on the tyres, cost of storage, including rent, utility bills, security and insurance. 100 boxes of tyres takes a lot of space
Then there's the legal fees. After all, most of the factories have an exclusive contract with the importer, so you might find yourself spending quite some time in court for 'grey imports'.
Now, if you hope to make a living out of the business, that wage you talked about, how much are you going to need?
If you want to duplicate your army pay and you've been in some time, then you are going to need what, another £35k.
You have already tripled the cost of those tyres, so you are going to be selling them at the same price as everyone else.
Of course, you can do as others do and hire out pit space, but the money is in mechanicing....so are you intending to give up driving or are you going to hire (and pay) others to do it for you?
Then there's the van....and the additional insurance for filling it full of stock and so on. And someone to man it while you are mechanicing.
You then run into the problem of trading. Many tracks will only allow a limited number of traders because they have found that traders who have to share their customers too much, tend not to be around for very long. And the tracks charge you for the privilege of trading.
More strength to your elbow if you can get started, but if you think you will undercut everyone else, the question you might ask is "If it is so easy, why hasn't anyone else done it? "
The answer might be that once you have costed it properly, it isn't so easy.
