Hi Paul
I gave it up for reasons similar to that when I was in my twenties.I am 59 now and only started karting again, 5 years ago.
It is one of my greatest regrets and think of all the fun I missed.
That said, you should set yourself a yearly budget and stop when you reach the limit, even if you only do a few meetings a year.
I am now in a position to be able to afford club level karting and I will continue while I can physically manage it.
Enjoy yourself while you are young :-)
