Before racing find out which person is the Chief Scrutineer.
Before leaving parc ferme (placed or not) always ask the Chief scrutineer if kart No. X can go, even at club meetings.
If they are busy, wait.
Be polite and never raise your voice.

If you are uncertain about a rule or a kart modification ask the Chief scrutineer before you race. They are always helpful and forthcoming with information. Help them and they will help you.

Sounds a bit pompous I know but from experience this is the best approach.
