As a race day newbie, I too thought their was just Novice 3,2,1 trophies. But not bothering to collect your trophy at all I find completely disrespectful.
In the larger clubs cadet / junior grids are large and there will be many kids stand no chance of getting a trophy but would give their right arm for one, for these kids to get a trophy would be a massive psychological and mental boost not only for the driver but for the parents too.
Those of you who have kids who have won many / a trophy close you eye's and remember that first one how proud you felt.....Now I bet you've got a big smile on your face.... That's what I want, I want that feeling, I want to see my son stood up there with a huge smile on his face whether it be novice 5,4,3,2,1 just once would do me. Then I know to a certain extent our work is done.
But not to bother as it's meaningless, tell that to the kind who's just picked up his first trophy for coming in 5th after racing for 3/4 yrs...... I beg to differ.
