Been there done that, I started off on my Rotax without a rib protector and very badly bruised my ribs, ended up in A&E I was in so much pain. Couldn't get back in the kart for a month or two and then went prepared with a decent (don't bother with the cheap ones, get what you pay for) Tillet R4 protector, no issues since.

As for the G's, I am not sure on the specific answer. Definetely interested to know though!
