Well, yes, you are being naive in one respect. Sure he has some talent but what really got him to where he is today was the Ł10 million invested in him by McLaren's, the money that enabled him to spend two school days a week every week on a kart track thanks to a private tutor, the money that gave him the confidence that his kart and engines were put together by the best team that money could buy, that his driving coach also taught an F1 driver, and the assurance that if he bust something, it would be replaced.

We all know that we can all be much better than we are, if only we had unlimited time on the track.

And that, more than hookey engines, is what keeps the front runners out in front.
