Only reporting what was said at the time. The scutineer said he had seen several Y801 helmets with cracks in the shell at the lower rear area.

If the MSA is unaware of this, it must be that he was making the whole thing up, gaining some perverse gratification in making me buy a new helmet: yes!!

The supplier was at the circuit, he said the problem was "news to him" and made no suggestion of a refund or enquiry into the damage.

In any case, it would be difficult to prove it hadn't been dropped (which it hadn't) and I figured the complaint proceedure was likely to be nothing more than a waste of time.

This DID happen concerning a Duchinni Y801 otherwise unmarked and undamaged six month old helmet.
To repeat, I'm only stating what was said at the time.
