I race in 250's on short circuit and there is hardly ever any contact. I honestly believe its because
1: We are older and therefore more mature
2: most of us have gone past the phase of 'No Fear'
3: But most importantly we have to pay for repairs ourselves, rather than 'dad' paying for any damage.
I honestly think its all about taking responsibility for ones actions. I can totally understand the junior classes being more cut throat as some of the dads can see a new Lewis or Jenson in their child and so instill that 'win at all costs' attitude in the kids (i've seen dads reduce their kids to tears, f'ing and blinding at them because they arent happy with their performance, and really had to bite my tongue to stop from stepping in) and thats where I think the problem lies. Kids are a result of upbringing and I think there is a proportion of parents that are ruining things for everyone else. That said I know some cadet dads where I race who are front runners and are the nicest people you could meet and support their kids and insist on fair play.
