Alan - some obvios problems:-
description says the engine is the S60 whereas you can only race the W60 some some upgrade costs there.
Carb is not the Tryton so you would need that.
Chassis - how old is it and is it coming to the end of it's life? 1998 homo
logated chassis are no longer allowed to race. If it is a Zip then you need to know if it is a Storm - homologated in 2007; a blade - homologated in 2004 or a Puma - homologated in 2001. the MSA Gold Book says that a chassis is OK for three successive homologation periods i.e. 9 years so you would need to check if this one could still be used in MSA races.
A kart may be seen on track on practice days when they are not under MSA permit but not be race legal.
You could buy your lad a Snell 2005 helmet that is race legal at the moment but from 01.01.2011 it would no longer be allowed for a cadet and you would need the CMR helmet.
