Alright everyone,
ive just been and bought a shabby prokart, which will be a little project for me to smarten up over winter, both engines seem to be running fine, started first time and no smoke, the frame is in need of painting, and new pods, nosecone etc, and il no doubt put a new seat, steering wheel, and probably everything else on it.
Looking to use it for fun and races at my local track once a month -middlesbrough.
few questions,
ile start with the engines, i know the gx160s are a fairly straight forward lump, first thing i was planning on doing is oil and filter change, put some 140 springs in, de baffled exhausts and some k&n filters, are these things worth doing? and what else is worth doing? and what is the best way to get more power out of one? Is it a straight forward job to put a central tank on and remove the two tanks on top of the engines?
Bodywork - the frame has the L shaped brakets holding the pods on, does this mean that im stuck with square pods or can i get some of the newer 08 pods to fit? will newer nosecones fit anything? Can i put a newer rear bumper on? the one with out the two higher protective bits for the engines? The bars holding the seat on are curved and not straight like ones iv seen in the shops, so would this effect how much i can move the position of the seat?
and lastly the guy i got it from didnt know anything about it, so is there an easy way of identifing what make and model the chassis is? he thought it was a zip kart but that was purely down to the fact the chain guards had it written on, but they looked newer than the kart.
Thank you very much for any help you can pass my way
cheers again
Paul
