If you are at Shennington tommorrow feel free to come and ask advice, my son is no 99 and we are in pit space C23.

I would say a good bit of advice we got was to buy something that will get you started and last at least for the first 12 months of racing. If you end up buying a "hack" and then end up having to replace it within the first 6 months anything you learnt about setting it maybe useless once you have a more competitive kart.

Also don't under estimate the ancillary kit needed a trolley, helmet, gloves, suit , boots, lap timer, trailer/van, awning, sprockets, wet tyres & rims. You may not need all of this first time out but if he goes ok you will surprised how quickly things add up.

As Richard said, go to Rissy & Shenny and talk to the parents. Your best bet maybe to buy the whole set up from one of the cadets who is moving up that way you may get everything needed and even though it means one big expense it will be cheaper in the long run. If he doesn't like it you can sell the kit on and hopefully won't loose that much.

Good Luck
Matthew
