Coming out of WTP cadet, we were faced with a decision.
It came down to Minimax, or Jnr TKM. Looking at the decision in the round, we chose TKM.
Why?
Well, for a start, the engines aren't sealed. That means even the most basic maintenance can be carried out with little experience or workshop facilities, such as:
1. Checking the piston for signs of weak mixture. 2. De-carbonising the piston/head/exhaust port. 3. Checking for stuck piston rings. 4. Checking for signs of bore wear/scoring.
And if you have good workshop facilities you can rebuild the crank/bottom-end assembly for under £40 (cost of parts). A piston/ring complete, will cost under £70 and honing will not be expensive.
We are competing on an original 1995 TKM spec. chassis with used engines made good with new parts from TKM or approved suppliers. Plus the good support you can expect from TKM at any time.
Need I say more?
Dave.
