Just to take the above subject a little bit further: Ian is of course spot on in saying there are certain individuals in this business who want to block the Aixro in any way they can (based on what we can see). However, this really only comes down to the question of this engine being MSA-sanctioned or not. There are some who believe the ‘grand review’ of karting that is said currently to be underway is open-minded enough to reconsider this. Given the interest that we assume to be vested elsewhere, I think that’s highly unlikely. But: I say it doesn’t matter. If a club – or, as in this case, an association – doesn’t want me as a member, that’s fine. I don’t like the idea of repeatedly knocking on doors where I am not welcome. If there’s going to be any growth at all (seems unlikely anyway) in karting, what’s the betting where it will be? Under the MSA umbrella or outside it?
By the bye, I wouldn’t expect any opponents to go public here, but let’s have a straw poll anyway: who gives it the thumbs up, and who gives it thumbs down?
