Hi - quick background to start before I plead for advice!
My 9yr old son has started karting this year, to check he wanted to do it he's completed the cadet course at Thruxton but due to financial restraint (the wife) we were waiting until next year before getting his own kart. This all changed yesterday when I was offered a Honda Cadet for a good price which I have accepted. Ok, its not a shiney new chassis but I think its good enough to get him started and make sure he wants to continue without spending a fortune. My plan is to run him in practice sessions at Blackbushe to build up his skills, experience of the kart etc before getting him to take his ARKS.
The GX160 engine has the top mounted tank which I believe should be OK for practice but which I'll need to swap for a centre tank. The engine is unsealed and has been serviced in its life (intend to service before 1st practice).
Andy advice greatly appreciated but would like to know what I should be aiming for as a "standard" setup? I so far have the kart, a set of slicks and wets and a trailer. I know I need a trolley to move it around, but what else? If anyone has any kit they are looking to get rid of, please let me know. I'm located in Basingstoke.
Apologies for the long email and thanks in advance for any assistance, hopefully I'll be a member here for a long time to come!
Matt
