It's a question of choice and available finance.
We looked at the options after deciding to leave WTP and came to the conclusion that TKM was the obvious choice for us.
Being self-employed in the current economic climate means money is hard to come by and as no-one will need reminding, karting isn't a cheap sport!
Having been around engines for 47 years,(I started at age 12) I'm well able to service our engines: so what other class open to us doesn't use engine seals? I have good workshop facilities and can do a complete bottom-end rebuild for under £40: Mr Turney has kept his promise to provide affordable karting!
We did a £200 pit deal on an engine at Kimbolton and straight off got a top-ten position with a grid of well over 20. Our chassis is a 2005 Vixen VB6 bought as a complete kart with clutched engine and starter for £600 (e-Bay special). Frag, you know how tight I am, (LOL) can't see as there was any other choice!
And talking about engine seals, I'll join forces with the guy who often wrote in on the subject: Honk! Honk! throw the seal another fish.
Dave.
