To get back to the question you will find that the heat gun will be 1600 to 2000 watts, so to run it on its own I would say 2.2kW (or 2.75KVA at 0.8pf which most generators are rated at)so the gun starts and performs well without causing the generator to stall or the overload to come on, a small compressor would be in the order of 1.2 kw (About 1.5HP) however the motor start will be a lot tougher on the generator, so I would say double it to about 2.4KW. A good quality generator at 2.8 to 3KVA will run ether no problem, but not happily at the same time!

The silenced KIPOR sets at this size are very good, have a big tank and come with an optional wheel kit which is well worth the money!
