I think what Winger93 was after was a helpful answer.

What this thread establishes, is that questions behind seat stays (as well as other topics in karting) is largely debateable.

The ultimate lesson to take from it all goes hand in hand with what Mr Van Es states. Go out and test them. Seat stays (like it or dislike it) DO make a significant difference to the balance of the kart - and if you can't feel that difference, then you need a lot more seat time. It seems everyone has altering opinions on seat stays. So go out, try them and find out what works for you. The only useful piece of advice QOT has given is don't aimlessly follow others, find out what works best for you.

It works for me, it clearly works for others so labelling it psychobabble is just unhelpful and not true. For the record, leaning to the outside of the corner also makes a difference for me too Mr Van Es and I usually do ok in the wet too :-)
