Schools are able to allow time off for sporting activities, although this is discretionary. When we first started the school did not understand the difference between corporate karting and 'proper' karting. I suggest that you have a meeting with the tutor and perhaps arm yourself with a DVD or Utube download of a race. It worked for us.
