I think this will depend on chassis, but on my chassis (Octane) I find the softer the axle, the less grip. (i.e Better release)

However, its much more complicated than that as you can cut down harder axles to give cross-performance benefits. It's a minefield.

You must test hardest and softest on your chassis to find out. They make a big difference.
