dont think there was any karting in uk before 1960.wombwell was named dorothy hyman stadium when she won silver in 1960 olympic 100 metres.in mid 1980s i went to a kart meeting where we got commemorative glasses for 25th anniversary.wombwell was a prestigious track then with rounds of both super 1& kart&superkart champs.d.c.&alan mcnish were regulars in juniors &a v.young dario franchitti won a champs round in junior booster before john mills brought in comer cadets.try pat connelly.pfi, pat teatum patron or nigel edwards for date of 25 th anniversary
