Didn't mean to come over as a rant.

Zip & the MSA seem to be expressing the sort of attitude (and complacency) that NASA had leading up to the shuttle Columbia loss. Loss of insulation from the external tank was not part of the design criteria but it happened all the time. They got used to it as no one had shown it to be dangerous. Minor damage to the shuttle tiles happened all the time, but loss of the primary heat shield is, and was, a catastrophic hazard.

I concur there is all manner of karting impact scenarios, but what we are trying to do here is reduce one specific scenario.
