The resistance of the sensor I purchased is basically 0, as it is a thermocouple so has no real resistance (other than that of 2 bits of wire).

If you say it should be around 47k then that suggests to me the sensor actually needs to be a thermistor.

I think I'll have to buy a proper one, then I can maybe figure out what it is in case I ever need to replace it.
