Hello all i need to find out what size my back axle bearings are, i have the old ones but they have no size on them.

How do i find out what size the bearings need to be as all i can find on the net are 25mm/30mm/40mm and 50mm is this measurement the width/lenth/height of the bearing? or do i need to measure the axle as it is 4 inch in circumference? or does the or do i need to get the diameter of the axle?

i dont want to order them and then they be wrong also which type do you suggest?
