Here's one for the technically minded..

Why do slicks start to lose grip as they become more worn?? I know this happens becasue i have felt it myself, but I can't understand why! A slick that is just been scrubbed in will present the same surface to the track as one that is about to get worn to the weave - i.e. flat rubber. It is not as if there are any tread patterns being worn away.

Yet there is a definite decline in performence.. Does anyone know why this is? I have been pondering it all day..
