Yes, Eve did the Wembley circuit...1200 protective panels, 2200 tonnes of underlay and 1800 tonnes of tarmac for a 1000m circuit. So yes it's possible, but I'm thinking this is mega expensive (plus the cost of taking it all away again).

Tarmacadam has got to be the only choice for a racing surface -stable, jointless, smooth -anything else just won't fit the bill. Any form of temporary panel system will be relatively uneven and full of joints..OK for running slow moving vehicles on, but not designed for the sort of dynamic loading, grip and smoothness that high speed karting would require.

So basically, you are talking about building a proper tarmacadam race circuit, but it's just formed over a seperating layer of panels to protect the grass. 1000m track by say 5m wide nominally, that's 5000sqm of roadway at a few hundred quid a square metre?...got to be talking in multiples of Ł100 000 here ..even at Ł100/sqm it would be Ł1/2 million.
