David,
what you are saying about fixed gearing and multiple gearing doesn't make sense. If you hold a (multiple) geared kart in any one gear, then surely that gear can then be classed as fixed? The ratio only changes when you change gear yet what you are saying is that peak acceleration occurs at peak power? Yet in a fixed gear (DD) kart, it occurs at peak torque? It is not a constantly varying transmission therefore, whatever gear you are in is a fixed ratio surely?
