I've bought a Tillet R4 recently and it made a big difference, had been using the standard tillet before that.
I mentioned on another thread recently, i'd been hiring a kart with a Tillet T11 large, the exact same as the one in my own kart. The difference in tightness was very noticable and I think was the source of my two bust ribs.
Chassis are designed to take skinney boys and the same chassis are used from mini max to senior max. I think if the seat is just crammed into the same hole without a bit of extra work it will distort the seat enough to dig into your ribs. As you say your using an XL seat to start with, maybe this is something you could look at.
Get the seat right and the Tillet is only 5mm thick, negligable under your suit, but absolutely vital. Think of the extra pressure from us portly lads!
Although not on general release, Steve Tillet will sell these R4's. I wear mine without the shoulder straps, just like the standard tillet. Did a back to back at Buckmore and there was a noticable difference between the two. Just wanted to see if I was getting value, as they're not cheap!
