To test for wheel imbalance, put the kart on the stand and spin each front wheel in turn, very fast.

Watch for the kart shaking or put your hand on the steering wheel and you will be able to feel the vibration.

Check for wear in the track rod rose joints.

Check the king pin bearings by gripping the stub axle and firming pulling up and down to detect movement.

Check that the king pin bolts are actually tight.

Check the steering column bottom bush as the palstic ones do wear.

You can balance your back wheel by putting them on the front if you have stud mounting front hubs.

If you have two wheels out of balance and they both get to the stage where the imbalance is in unison, the kart can be almost undriveable.

Don't forget that the balance will change if you change tyres, and you will Have to re-weight.

I use small strips of roofing lead and hold it on with gaffer tape.

Make sure you overlap well but the rotating forces hold it in place very well.

You will gain time with balanced wheels.
