I have had a few Gennie / Compressor mixes and Richydehav is correct. If you buy an open type at around 3 / 4 Kva and it still doesnt start the compressor, try letting all of the air out of the tank as it will reduce the initial load on the gennie, or another trick is to rev the gennie up a bit which also helps. Once the compressor has run a bit and warmed up its oil it will usually restart fine.

Dont do this on the Kippor one as it overloads the PCB, and is around Ł150 to get a new one.
