Hi, I am Alex, one of the people behind the Diamond Kart Lift. Thanks for the interest guys, I just thought I would put right a couple of points just so there is no confusion.
1)richydehav basically asked the weight, which is only 45kg. The unit also folds to allow you to load it into the van without much space being taken up and the battery is a gel type so no danger of spillage etc. The unit itself is obviously far, far easier to put in your van than a Kart, and can be achieved easily by one person.
2)Andrewrr, are you feling a little cynical today? Please re-view the video. The lift PICKS UP the rear, which is the heaviest point and then the lift pulls itself UNDER the Kart. The nose does not therefore scrape on the floor. The front of the kart is designed to be strong, and even then only a fraction of the karts weight is supported by it. The lions share being immediately transferred to the heavy duty front wheels of the lift.
3)We would need to be advised it the kart has the plastic rear bumper as slight modification would be required. However, we have seen so few of these that no one except yourself has ever enquired. :-)
4)The lift is supplied with a 12v gel battery which in our experience lasts the whole weekend. That said, if the worst were to happen and the battery go flat it does so gradually, getting ever slower, thus offering a good degree of warning. You then have various options. You can fit a standard spare kart battery, (we specifically designed this option in so that you have easy access to a spare at all times). you can charge the battery using a standard charger. You can charge the battery using the cigar socket of the van/car. You can let the kart back down off the lift. (only the slightest charge need be in the battery to allow downward travel as there is no load.)
Basically, we have tested, tested and tested again. This has been designed to solve the problem of one man lifts specifically. It is not something that has been adapted for karting use, it has been designed specifically from day one to do the job that it does. We have lifted small and large karts with ease, and are now only releasing the product because we are happy (and rather proud) with the way it performs. Anyone who would like to to come and try one of these lifts is quite welcome!
Once again, thanks guys!
Alex
