Quality - thats why. Its medical grade stuff - look at the structure, the materials, the construction and the details. Though there is of course money being made, that quality does not come cheap. In MX, Leatt invented it, then when the demand was established, others copied the concept and shape with cheaper materials / construction methods (at 1/3 the price). That is likely to happen here once Leatt have helped to create demand, or the MSA have decreed it compulsory. For me, I am glad that neck protection is still a personal choice, but if its a choice between neckbraces for kids or "Shackletons high seat Tilletts" / some sort of roll cages for everyone, I choose the Leatt.
