Dave, From the esults sheets his fastest lap was 1 second quicker than the rest but overall he won by an average of 2 seconds per lap.
The difference will be in consistency but you would need to see everyone's lap times.
I would bet that his were within 1/10th or so lap after lap whilst the others varied quite a bit. this is often when the others are fighting for position rather than working together but without seeing the race it is hard to comment.
We ahve seen the difference time and again - number 2 and 3 driver working together catch the leader and you get a close finish. If they fight for position then first place man wins by loads.
One second advantage as Scott said is very unusual and unlikely to be all down to the engine. Could be a range of things with set-up, carb, fuel, but especially experience.
