You've basically just repeated yourself again. We know that in certain conditions Mag alloy rims perform better. That's a given. We know experienced teams have base setups, we know the top drivers run Mag rims, we know copying winning setups is a good starting point if you don't have your own that works just as well. We also know you've won major race meetings.

The question is WHY are Mag rims better? Why are the top teams faster on them? Why is anyone faster on them 'if you set the chassis up correctly'?

A point you seem to have missed is that somewhere along the line, somebody has had a long debate about the physics of wheel rims, thats how the Mag rims were designed in the first place. At some point in the past I'm sure the top teams were all on Al alloy rims. If everybody decided that we should just draw a line under that and copy the top drivers when they were on Al alloy, we would be in a slightly different situation wouldn't we.
