In a recent discussion, someone complained that they had started racing in the NKRA Blue championship because it only had five regional meetings and the Grand Finale, but were being forced to do the 9 round 'Challenge' as well.
The complaint was that they had to travel to other tracks and this put their budget up.
So I looked up the details on the planetkarting website and discovered that the NKRA regionals create a championship order for the region. Additionally missing an NKRA Regional fixtures incurs 3 penalty points that affect your position at the Grande Final.
The Grande Final effectively decides the NKRA Champion driver.
The 'Challenge' fixtures, which include all the regionals, so it's really just an additional 4 races, are used to decide who gets the 'numbers'.
For winning a 'number', half the points are gained in the Grande Final and half the points are gained in the Challenge and the whole lot are added to get the order in which number plates are awarded.
So, if winning a national number is important, then yes, one needs to do all the Challenge races.
But if you just want the kudos of knowing where you came in the regionals and Grand Championship, then all you don't need to do those extra four meetings.
As a meerkat might say, "Simple, mmm".
