Setting up for weight distribution.

the normal advice is to set up for between 55 and 60 % of the weight on the rear wheels and a near balance right to left.

With the normal wheelbase being around 1040mm, that means that your 'correct' seat position is somewhere in a slot about 5 cm long. ( it depends on the weight of the driver in relation to the weight and distribution of the kart)

Some very quick drivers state that once somewhere in that region they adjust the kart to suit their comfort, others state that they get a marked increase as they get within 5mm of the 'right' position and then they adjust the kart to fit themselves.

So, apart from getting into the right region (or using the manufacturer's figures if you are an average size of driver), it's back to testing and the ability to put in a reliable set of laps on successive practises, otherwise you don't know whether the tenths you have just found were caused by the seat or just chance. (And most people will go faster after a few laps of practice, maybe 0.5 secs by the end of the day).

If the whole kart is breaking loose evenly, then it sounds as if the seat position is about right anyway, though it may change as you get the rears to lift.
