Never heard of having to buy tyres but not be allowed to keep them. For most club meetings you use whatever tyres you like. At HKRC they said they would mark your slicks after 3 lap practice and those would have to be used for all heats and finals but in the end the tyres were not marked.
If you race in the Stars series the tyres are marked but you can have them bagged up at the end of the meeting and use them again. In S1 you have to have a new set of slicks for each round.
Otherwise the `o' plate and Kartmasters may require controlled tyres for the meeting but you keep them afterwards.
