As has been said in other threads before, mag wheels are generally stiffer and reduce grip. The effect is probably due not only to the compound but also the structure (shape) of the wheel. After all if the offset has changed then the structure must necesarily change too.

Ultimate proof of the difference would be to change only one wheel - if the handling does not change then they are effectively the same.
