It was a surprise to me not having mains power at UK tracks. In France, I have never been to a track without mains power, free for the paddock. 10€ a night for campers and caravans.
However, it's not without it's problems. If it rains, for safety, everything is switched off in the paddock. Usually the camping area stays on. But with people taking it for granted the demand can become enormous with people plugging in heaters and coffee machines etc. Then the system starts tripping every 10 minutes. Often you end up with no power because everyone gets fed up with resetting it (timeout systems often used that require everything unplugged for 10 minutes).
Finally, forget a good nights sleep, because with mains power all the knobs leave their compressors plugged in and every copule of hours one of those goes off and wakes everyone up.
