I have a GPX Leatt I use for downhill mountain biking and 4X(I race all the Nationals). I know it's saved my neck/spine at least once when I hit a jump way too fast at the Scarborough urban downhill race and landed on my head. I could feel how the brace stopped my neck over extending.

It took a while to set up the back plate, mainly as I use full armour for downhill and far less for 4X. Now it's set up I hardly notice it.

I've seen the kart version and it looks exactly the same as mine. I'll try my Leatt in the kart next time we're out to see how it feels and if my helmet sits at the right angle. There must be a difference in the height of front or rear, or at least the angle of the rear plate.

A rumour that's going round the mountain bike paddocks is to take the Leatt off when just walking around, as if you fall over when wearing a Leatt without a helmet, you can INCREASE the amount of any neck injury. Can't see it myself, but I take the brace off anyway between races.
