Yes, agree with that - longer races (particularly finals) must be the way to go. Encourages mental & physical fitness as well as better tyre management etc.

With regard to the time remaining there are various methods - Buckmore has a digital clock for example. At the London Cup (Rye House) and the Brazillian Cup (Whilton Mill) they count down the minutes using the number boards then when it gets to '1' put out the last lap board.
It would probably pay to make absolutely certain that eveyone completely understands the format as I have seen officials c*ck it up and confuse the (already confused) drivers!

Main problem for officials may be that there will be more lapped drivers and timing of the race end is critical, so that the chequered flag is waved at the right person at the right time.
