You really do need to see if there is any think sticking out from the seat, then fix it, a good fitting seat should not hurt and gives the driver the best and fastest feedback, most drivers will say they like using rib protectors but look how many top drivers use them. (none)
You are taking away so much feedback without even noticing but thats taken away by using rib protectors.
