Having used kerbs and raced with people who use kerbs for over 10 years, I have never heard ONE complaint about it untill now. I have ALSO never had ANY of the damage you claim happens to your kart. As kerbs are usually on the inside of the corner anyway, its generally the unloaded side of the kart using the kerb.

Dunkeswell used to ban people from running over the white line on the exit of turn 1 and this was understood and I DIDN'T cross it! This was made clear and I have never so much as had a word in my ear from a COC about using kerbs.
