No, it doesnt affect BS6658 Type A/FR as this is a later used standard, therefore the thinking is that banning Type A's will take out all exessively old helmets (plus of course a lot of quite new ones). I did put this fact in the April issue of the ABkC News and although it is not mentioned in the latest edition of MotorSports Now, if you look in the Spring edition, p.45, it is clearly taken out (along with possibly the SA2000) from 1.1.2010. We did have a try at using the date of manufacture inside the helmet as an alternative to a total ban, but no go.
